To compare the story of the movie to ONE of the eight basic stories learnt in class.
The Revenant is inspired by true events about the experiences of Hugh Glass and showing his surviving skills. The movie is directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu.
The Revenant telling the story of Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio). Hugh Glass faces many obstacle but he never give up, he struggle to survive. Besides that, I realised that this movie is CANDIDE, which is one of the eight basic stories in story concept. The Revenant showing the determination of Hugh Glass to survive and revange for his son, he never give up before he kill John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy).
At the beginning, Hugh Glass is the only one who knows the way to their base and leading the team going home. Accidentally, he attacked by a bear and almost dead, he never give up during fighting with the bear and kill the bear. After attacked by a bear, he is bad wounded and slowing the movement speed of their hunting team. His partner John Fitzgerald betray him, kill his son and try to kill him because of his disability. After his son is dead, he start to revenge and this is the only reason for him to survive.
Reborn.
"Blood lost, life found, I ain`t affraid to die anymore, I done it already." by Hugh Glass.
He found his dream, his mission is to revenge and survive.
Wilderness.
What make u go on, what are u holding on to. Long is the way and hard, that out of hell leads up to light. The worst climate and temperature is the biggest challange to survive alone, but in his dream, her wife is supporting him by telling him "The wind cannot defeat a tree with strong roots. When there is a storm, you are standing in front of a tree. If you looks at its branches, you swear it will fall, but if u watch the trunk, you will see it stability." The willpower holding him to survive.
Buffalo.
I am the buffalo, u have not known hunger after you have eaten with the wolves. This part showing that he beg a Reds(American Indian) to share him some buffalo food to survive. After sharing buffalo, this American Indian save him and help him to survive in hostile environment.
Saved.
He won`t die until he is finished, the power of world always work in circle.
Circle also one of the eight basic stories in story concept, but circle in The Revenant is only a part of story line to support Candide, the deams of Hugh Glass to revenge and survive. His team found him and he is ready to revenge.
The Revenant.
He knows how far I came to find him, we all answer for something. He start to track John Fitzgerald and try to kill him. In the end, he realise that his son was dead and nothing will return to his son, he did not kill John Fitzgerald by himself. Hugh Glass said :"Revenge is in God`s hands." In this movie, Hugh Glass told us the lesson about no matter how big the trouble was, no one can stop him to achieve the dream he want, the revenant.
